Confined Spaces

Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford

In 2015, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, contracted DSA Electrical to undertake a variety of works at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

The Challenge

DSA Electrical was contracted to install 110V task lighting, fire alarm cabling and street lighting around the hospital estate. Much of the cabling was situated in underground ducts with entry points around the hospital in various locations. This made an ordinarily straightforward installation more complicated due to the need to work in confined spaces.

DSA Electrical Engineers undertaking confined spaces work at Broomfield Hospital

The Solution

DSA Electrical’s highly skilled and experienced engineers are trained in and fully equipped to carry out work in confined spaces. Access to the ducts was not a problem, and once all the necessary Risk Assessments and Health & Safety considerations were taken into account such as installing safety barriers around the works area, the team were able to carry out the task in hand.

The Outcome

The task lighting, fire alarm cabling and street lighting were all safely installed efficiently, on time and on budget without incident.
