DSA Electrical’s apprenticeship scheme is now in its eleventh year. Our first apprentice was offered a position back in 2003 at a time when the company only had 10 employees in total. The apprentice was given thorough electrical training and has gone on to start his own company and is an excellent electrician that we are proud to say we trained, all those years ago.
Since then, we haven’t looked back. We have trained a further six apprentices who are now fully qualified, experienced, and carrying out a variety of roles. They are showing all companies, large and small, that there are huge benefits in taking on apprentices as the training and nurturing is repaid as the employees grow and develop. We currently have a further five apprentices in training, as the number of vacancies have increased in line with the Company’s growth. We are also proud to be training our first female apprentice, in what has always been a very male dominated industry, and have also trained our first business and administration apprentice.
Rachel Richards commented “we pride ourselves on being a good employer, and giving opportunities to young people in the local area. We’re delighted that all but one of our 12 apprentices still work with us, and just wish more companies would offer these formal apprenticeships to give more opportunities to young people as the competition for places is so tight”.
