The existing lighting at Kate Daniels House comprised of 5’ Twin Fluorescent lights which were coming to the end of their serviceable life. Tendring District Council were incurring increasing maintenance costs on call out charges to keep the lights in service. New external lighting was also required. Being a sheltered scheme, there were additional challenges around safeguarding and access.
DSA Electrical worked with the Council to install a new lighting scheme using Ansel LED 600 x 600 LED lay in panels. We worked with the Council’s property team to install a suspended ceiling which facilitated the new lighting installation and introduced Passive Infrared sensors to ensure the new lighting only comes on when an area is in use.
Our engineers are DBS checked, trained in equality and diversity and highly experienced in working in occupied properties with vulnerable residents. Our resident liaison team are trained in customer service management and worked closely with the Scheme Co-ordinator to ensure residents were kept fully informed of the works being undertaken.
Tendring District Council were delighted with the outcome. The Scheme Co-ordinator has received numerous comments from residents expressing how pleased they are with the new lighting.
"DSA have been carrying out work with CHP for the past 12 years and have built up a comprehensive knowledge of the electrical installations in our properties during this period. They are solution focussed and have always been extremely helpful; they fixed problems raised before considering how they would be paid – this old fashioned customer service approach is very welcome. DSA are always ready to provide technical advice without charge to CHP staff. They are flexible with regard to appointments and prices. I have no hesitation in recommending this partner, and am happy for myself and CHP to be associated with this commendation."
